Quick answer
What does a TEFL job guarantee actually guarantee?
Usually, the phrase alone is not enough to tell you. It may describe job-search help or guaranteed interviews rather than a guaranteed job offer. In Essential TEFL’s current course pages, Standard and TQUK Level 5 list job support for eligible graduates; All-In pages describe guaranteed interviews for eligible applicants and say each school makes its own hiring decision. Other All-In marketing language refers to a “confirmed job,” “guaranteed school placement” and a “replacement guarantee.” The public pages do not explain how those stronger statements fit the interview-only terms, or publish a clear refund remedy if a job does not materialise.
That difference is important, but it is not enough to conclude that a provider is acting improperly: the pages may describe different services or package-specific written terms. Before paying, ask which exact promise applies to your booking and get the outcome, deadline, eligibility and remedy in the agreement.
This is a provider-specific guide to published terms, not an independent measurement of graduate placement outcomes. Course fees and descriptions below were checked on 13 October 2026.
Five promises that are easy to confuse
| Promise | What it normally means | What it does not establish by itself |
|---|---|---|
| Job assistance | CV feedback, interview coaching, vacancy information or help with applications. | That an employer will interview or hire you. |
| School introductions | A provider connects a graduate with one or more schools or recruiters. | That a school has a vacancy, will interview you, or will make an offer. |
| Guaranteed interviews | The provider commits that an eligible graduate will receive interviews, subject to its stated conditions. | A job offer, preferred school, location, salary or start date. |
| Job placement guarantee | This phrase can mean different things. A contract should say whether it promises a specific offer, an acceptable placement, or only continued introductions. | A defined outcome unless the employer, role, pay, location, deadline, acceptance rules and remedy are specified. |
| Refund guarantee | A refund may be due if a precisely defined condition is not met. | That tuition is refundable just because a graduate does not get hired. The amount, deadline, exclusions and claims process must be written. |
These are practical distinctions for reading an offer, not universal legal definitions. Judge the wording in the agreement you would actually sign.
What Essential TEFL’s current pages promise
The table below separates what the provider currently publishes from what remains unclear. These are provider statements, not independent evidence of hiring outcomes.
| Route | Published fee | Published job support | What is not clear in the pages reviewed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard 120-hour | ฿45,000 | The course comparison lists support for eligible graduates. Its job-placement page describes CV help, interview advice, school introductions and arranging interviews. | The exact eligibility and any number or deadline for interviews are not specified consistently across these pages. No general job or refund guarantee is stated. |
| TQUK Level 5 | ฿50,000 | The course comparison lists support for eligible graduates. The job-placement page discusses the Standard and Level 5 routes but does not set out a distinct Level 5 hiring guarantee. | Do not assume the higher qualification buys a stronger employment commitment. Ask whether the same service and conditions apply to Level 5. |
| All-In Bundle | ฿130,000 | The detailed bundle and course comparison FAQ state guaranteed interviews for eligible native English speakers with a bachelor’s degree and say the school makes the hiring decision. The bundle also lists first-month accommodation, visa guidance, orientation and 12-month career support. | The comparison table separately labels “guaranteed school placement” and “replacement guarantee.” The bundle page says the first year includes further introductions “where appropriate.” Specific placement, replacement, timing, refund and eligibility rules are not set out in the pages reviewed. |
All three prices are the figures listed on Essential TEFL’s [course comparison](https://www.essentialtefl.com/courses) when checked on 13 October 2026. Confirm the fee and package inclusions for your intake directly.
Why the All-In wording needs clarification: its [bundle details](https://www.essentialtefl.com/tefl-all-in-bundle) repeatedly describe interviews and leave hiring decisions to schools. The [course comparison](https://www.essentialtefl.com/courses) also uses “guaranteed school placement” and “replacement guarantee” labels. Meanwhile, the [terms and conditions](https://www.essentialtefl.com/terms-and-conditions) say ordinary course enrolment does not guarantee a particular job, salary, location or start date, and that a separate written internship or placement commitment remains subject to its agreed terms. These statements may refer to different commitments. The public information reviewed does not resolve exactly which one an All-In buyer receives.
We did not find a published 60-day job-placement deadline or a placement-failure refund amount in the pages reviewed. Do not rely on those terms unless they appear in the booking agreement that applies to you.
Who may qualify, and what does the school decide?
Essential TEFL’s dedicated [job-guarantee page](https://www.essentialtefl.com/how-tefl-job-guarantee-works-thailand) describes eligibility as approved-country native English speakers with a bachelor’s degree who complete its in-person Bangkok course, qualify for a Non-B visa, and can attend in-person interviews in Thailand. It excludes online-only certificate holders, applicants without legal work eligibility, people unwilling to accept available locations or schedules, and people expecting a particular school, salary or timetable. The [All-In page](https://www.essentialtefl.com/tefl-all-in-bundle) states a narrower summary: native English speakers with a bachelor’s degree receive guaranteed interviews. The pages do not give one complete, consistent list of approved countries for every support route.
Essential TEFL’s [job-placement page](https://www.essentialtefl.com/guaranteed-tefl-jobs-thailand) says graduates without a bachelor’s degree can take a course but are not eligible for its placement service. Its [dates and fees page](https://www.essentialtefl.com/dates-and-fees) says opportunities depend on nationality, qualifications, experience and school requirements. Ask for a written eligibility decision based on your passport, degree subject, experience, location flexibility and intended course.
Even when a provider arranges an interview, the school decides whether to hire. The pages reviewed do not promise that you will receive an offer, a particular school or city, a minimum salary, a set start date, or a job that meets your personal preferences.
What happens if you do not get an offer?
Do not assume that “placement support” includes tuition repayment. Essential TEFL’s general terms say course fees and deposits are non-refundable when a student cancels, subject to applicable law and any written booking agreement. They also state that a separate placement commitment is governed by its agreed terms. The All-In website describes further introductions during 12-month career support, but does not publish a job-failure refund formula on the page reviewed.
Before paying, request the applicable signed or booking-specific terms and establish:
- Whether the promise is interviews, introductions, an offer, or a job starting by a deadline.
- How many interviews or suitable roles are required to count as fulfilling it.
- What “suitable” means for location, pay, hours, school type and contract length.
- Whether you must accept an offer, and what happens if the terms differ from what you agreed to.
- Whether the remedy is more introductions, replacement support, partial refund or full refund.
- The exact refund amount, claim deadline, documentation, exclusions and decision process.
Essential TEFL’s terms say the terms supplied at booking apply, and specific arrangements approved in writing can take precedence over corresponding general terms. Keep the complete agreement and any written answers before you pay.
Is extra job support worth paying for?
It may be valuable if you qualify and will use the service. Introductions, local vacancy knowledge, CV feedback and interview practice can reduce the work of finding schools, especially if you are new to Thailand. They do not have a proven cash value unless you know what service is included and how you would otherwise obtain it.
The All-In list price is ฿85,000 above Standard. Its listed bundle includes more than career support: first-month accommodation, visa-document guidance, Bangkok orientation and 12-month support. Compare those items with the real cost of arranging them yourself. Do not count a job, salary or future income as part of the bundle’s value unless a written commitment defines it and its remedy.
Standard may be enough if you want practical training and can organise your own housing and job search. Level 5 may suit someone who specifically needs that qualification; its higher fee should not be treated as buying a stronger placement promise without written confirmation. Ten questions to ask before paying
- What exact service am I buying: advice, introductions, guaranteed interviews or a job offer?
- Which written agreement applies to my specific course and package?
- What are all eligibility conditions, including nationality, degree, experience and in-country availability?
- How many interviews or school introductions are promised, and by what date?
- What counts as a suitable school, role, location, salary and contract?
- Can I decline an offer that does not match the written criteria without losing my remedy?
- What happens if no offer is made: more interviews, replacement support, partial refund or full refund?
- What is the exact refund amount, and what is the claim process and deadline?
- Does support end after a fixed period, and what is included during that time?
- Who is responsible for the school’s hiring decision, visa sponsorship, work permit and any required teacher permission?
Save the answers in writing alongside the booking terms. If the promise is important to your decision, a verbal assurance is not a substitute for the terms that govern your purchase.
A job guarantee does not grant permission to work
A course certificate, interview, school introduction or job offer is not a Thai visa, work permit or teacher permission. Thai government guidance describes separate immigration and work-permit steps, and separate requirements for foreign teachers’ professional permission. An employer and the responsible authorities must handle the applicable process for your case. Confirm current requirements with your prospective school and official sources; see our Thailand teacher visa and work permit guide.
For example, the [Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Non-Immigrant B guidance](https://mfa.go.th/en/page/non-immigrant-visa-b) lists documents for teachers taking employment, while [Thailand’s government guidance on permission for foreign teachers](https://thailand.go.th/issue-focus-detail/001_01_235?hl=en) describes requirements for a permit to practise without a professional licence. This article does not determine whether an individual qualifies.
Frequently asked questions
Does a TEFL course guarantee a teaching job in Thailand?
Not by default. Read the exact course and package agreement. Essential TEFL’s current All-In details describe interviews for eligible applicants and state that schools make hiring decisions; other comparison-table wording says placement guarantee. The public pages reviewed do not clarify whether a separate written placement commitment applies.
Is a guaranteed interview the same as guaranteed placement?
No. An interview gives you a chance to be considered. The employer decides whether to make an offer. A placement commitment should specify the role and conditions and what happens if no suitable job is available.
Does Essential TEFL Standard include a job guarantee?
The course comparison lists job support for eligible Standard graduates. The placement page describes CV and interview help and school introductions. The pages reviewed do not establish a general Standard job-offer or refund guarantee.
Does TQUK Level 5 provide better job placement?
The published course comparison lists support for eligible graduates for both Standard and Level 5. It does not set out a distinct Level 5 job guarantee. Ask the provider whether the support and eligibility differ for your chosen route.
Does All-In guarantee an actual job?
The bundle details and FAQs describe guaranteed interviews for eligible native English speakers with a bachelor’s degree and say the school makes the final decision. The course comparison also labels placement and replacement guarantees. Since the pages do not explain the relationship or remedy, get the exact All-In commitment in writing.
Is a TEFL certificate enough to get a Thai work permit?
No. TEFL training does not itself authorise work. Immigration, work-permit and teacher-permission requirements are separate and depend on your circumstances and the employer. Verify them with the school and relevant authorities.
Verdict: compare the course and the promise separately
Choose based on the training, qualification, total cost and support you can verify—not on the word “guarantee” by itself. A promise of introductions or interviews can still be useful, but it is not the same as a job or refund guarantee. For All-In in particular, the published interview wording and the stronger placement labels need a clear written explanation before you rely on them.
Compare the course details and current terms in our Essential TEFL review. If you are weighing the included support against course-only tuition, use our Standard vs All-In comparison. Both are optional reading; no course guarantees a hiring decision or legal permission to work.
